Parish Groups » STM Social Club
We work together to promote the spiritual and temporal welfare of fellow members.
We attend Mass as a group each month and pray for the intentions of members and their families.
We plan and arrange different activities for members to enjoy each other's company.
We build on the fellowship between members and with the Parish community.
We support the Parish priest and value his spiritual guidance.
The target group is retirees and those who are not employed full time in the workforce.
The club meets at 10 am on the first Tuesday of each month for Mass, followed by a meeting and morning tea or, occasionally, a light lunch.
There are about 80 members including both couples and singles. Monthly attendance averages around 55.
The Club places no obligation on members. Members attend and contribute to the extent that they wish.
The annual subscription is $20 a member.
The Club is an opportunity not only to develop friendships, but also to contribute to an important aspect of Parish life.
The Club organises an activity for most months, such as lunches, theatre and cinema, coach trips, picnics and visits to places of interest. The Frankston Arts Centre features in our calendar, and most outings are in the local area.
Dine and Wine Group arranges restaurant meals, winery visits, wine and cheese nights and social evenings.
Memorial Garden Group maintains the garden around the Memorial Wall.
Music Group meets monthly in members' homes to listen to a range of tapes, CDs and DVDs presented by individual members.
Poetry Group meets monthly to listen to members read and recite their favourite works, including the humourous.
Sip 'n' Sew Group meets to work on their individual projects and have the benefit of each other's company. The group displayed excellent work at the Art & Craft Luncheon early in 2005. The Special Interest Groups report on their activities at monthly meetings. The Club encourages and will support the formation of other groups of people with similar interests, such as cards, music making, computers, investment, art, reading, golf or any hobby of interest.
Visitors welcome at any time. For details of specific activities, read 'Seasons', or attend our next meeting on the first Tuesday of the month.
